Meant for the discerning collector, fine art photographer, or visual artist, this unique item contains a stunning collection of beautiful artistic nude photographs by a talented photographer taken during the 1930's Art Deco era.

Alfred Cheney Johnston was the official photographer for the Ziegfeld Follies from 1918-1932 and collaborated with Flo Ziegfeld to create "The Ziegfeld Girl." Through his association with Ziegfeld, Johnston also became famous for his portraits of silent film stars, society portraits and his New York advertising work.  He is credited for being one of the pioneers of early Hollywood publicity still photographs.

"ENCHANTING BEAUTY" was created in the mid to late 1930's, and shows a new artistic direction for Johnston. Undoubtedly inspired by his fellow photographer's Edward Steichen, Edwin Bower Hesser and Albert Arthur Allen (as well as 1930's German nude photography), Johnston left the security of his studio and his stationary view camera, and went out with smaller cameras and film to explore the nude in a new revue- Nature!

The result is a Ziegfeld Frolic with girls in trees, on rocks and in water.  Ziegfeld would have loved it. Apparently on rainy days he returned to the studio, and created some very intimate interior "still life" nudes photographed under dramatic KLEG lighting or near windows.  The results are artistically entertaining and surprising.

A friend of both Ansel Adams and Norman Rockwell, praise for these Alfred Cheney Johnston artistic ENCHANTING BEAUTY nudes was high. Rockwell wrote Johnston:

"I have always been a great admirer of your art.  Your sense of beauty, tone, and arrangement have always seemed exactly right...this book ENCHANTING BEAUTY is certainly the finest and fullest expression of your art."
